Mid-Autumn. Tinuvel was already frigid and the everlasting sun of summer had come to an end, beginning to set and rise as it did on every other island except for the number of hours it was in the sky for. When winter set in, the sun wouldn’t rise again for months, pushing them into an eternal night where the beautiful lights danced openly over the night sky. The hairs around Zevulun’s belly, jaw and fetlocks had grown long, his coat thick in preparation for the coming winter. When he swam into the icy Bay water, he felt the chill splash down into his bones. The only way to keep warm was to swim quickly and the further he swam from Tinuvel, the warmer the water became.

When he arrived on Crossing Isle’s beach, he shook away the water and felt the warm heat crawl into his skin. In truth, those who lived here yearlong likely thought it was a particularly chilly day, what with winter just around the corner. But Zevulun, accustom to Tinuvel, thought the temperature was perfect.

The cream and white young stallion made his way toward the Falls, listening to the rumble of the water for which the area was named. It roared louder the closer he drew and as he broke into the clearing, it was even more impressive. Zevulun lifted his head, ears forward, and paused as he glanced around to see where he might go next. If no one around looked to be amiable company, he could always press onwards to the Meadows.

Then, he saw her. The young mare couldn’t be much older than he was, and her coat reminded him somewhat of Maziel’s, though his sister’s tone was slightly different. Zevulun watched the stranger push into the pool, staring at the waterfall. The look of appreciation and awe on her face was a wonderful sight which made her appear even more beautiful the longer he watched her. Zevulun started forward, white tail flagged from his spotted hindquarters and gait light, flashy as he made his way toward the bank.

“Is this your first time in the Falls?” He asked amiably, speaking up enough that she could hear him over the dull roar of the water.
