my mind's like a deadly disease

Despite himself, Orkaan found the a light smile stayed upon his maw as he observed and listened to the pair. Having grown up as the only foal had meant there wasn’t much play. Not that he minded now, but perhaps as a young colt he had resented it. Still, there was much to be grateful for when he thought on his childhood. Being the only one meant his grandmother’s attention was for him alone, and she often came up with mind games for him to play. Puzzles and tricks - anything to sharpen his wit. Some did not have such luxury. As the colt had grown, it had been increasingly hard for his grandmother to stump him, but when she did he always caught a twinkle of amusement in her grey-blue eyes.

With the approach of autumn, the two-toned stallion wondered how the islands would change. It had been such a long time since he’d been home. It was almost as if he couldn’t remember the turning leaves and cooling nights as summer came to close it’s door for another year. A soft sigh of contentment left the brute’s lungs as the girls continued on.

Auds pricked in surprise at the request of the blue roan, and slowly, but surely, excitement just about bled from the stag. Amber orbs lit up with fire, and he nearly pranced to her side. At her sister’s rebuke he chuckled. ”It is alright. I would love to teach you if you want to learn. I would not teach a stranger but you are both my family here now and that gives you every right to learn.” Suddenly embarrassed by his display of emotion, Orkaan righted himself and gave his crown a quick shake. It could have been Dora being polite in asking - but he hoped he would be able to share that special part of his heritage with anyone who was going to be sticking around with him.

Cocking his head, the fire faded and left his gaze cool as he answered Phi. ”I had done nothing wrong when he came across me. He was holding a mare against her will and I offered to help. Do you think so little of me already? The tobiano male snorted and raised an imaginary eyebrow. ”I in turn have taken something from him but it is in hopes of freeing Vita Nova.” Peace was not a possibility in their world, she would be a fool to think there was avoiding enemies at all turns unless you rolled over in submission to anyone who came along.
