we could be strangers in the night

YOUR LOVE IS ALWAYS DANGEROUS
and now i'm lost in us

Zevulun blinked, thinking of anyone having feelings for his father, and grinned a little. He’d only been a little colt when last he’d seen his spotted sire, but he’d never considered him a mare magnet. Then again, if he thought about it, both he, Mariael, and Maziel were only related through him, and his sisters had told him they had other siblings, too. It was an interesting thought Zevulun hadn’t considered, but now wasn’t the time to wonder why there weren’t more mares in the Bay if his father had once been so popular. That’d be a question for his sister, not a practical stranger.

“Well, if your family was that close with my father, you can’t be all that bad.” Zevulun said with an easy smile, his natural mirth returned to him.

“We can definitely hang out.” Zevulun replied with an agreeing bob of his head, happy for the opportunity. While Zevulun wouldn’t complain about his life mainly filled with mares, he’d always longed to know what’d be like to have a friend who was of his similar gender, or even a brother rather than so many sisters. Supposedly he had an older full-blooded brother, Christian, but Zevulun had never met him.

“My sister is in the trees,” he explained, gesturing toward the forest he’d emerged from and picking up his hooves to allow him to circle around so if Paradiso wanted to walk into the forest, they could do so side-by-side. He lifted his muzzle and called out a little louder, “Maziel, it’s alright. He’s a friend.” Or so Zevulun had decided. He liked the vibes Paradiso gave off and felt comfortable with someone whose family knew his. Surely that would have earned him brownie points in Mariael’s book, too.

There was a shuffling of noise – a horse moving through trees and brush – and Maziel emerged slowly to meet them, still somewhat wary but trusting of her younger brother. She turned her head where her ears pointed, her nostrils quivering as she took in the scent of an unfamiliar stallion. “Hello,” she said gently, her milky-white sightless eyes uselessly pointed near his direction.

“Paradiso, this is my sister Maziel. Maziel, this is Paradiso.” Zevulun smiled and Maziel smiled too.

“It’s nice to meet you.” She said.

“Well, now that we’re all buddies,” Zevulun started, glancing toward Paradiso, “what brought you out to Tinuvel? Just exploring?” That was something Zevulun could get behind, as he had his heart set on visiting the islands as much as he possibly could.
