PERSEPHONE

The Forest floor crackled beneath her, strewn with the leaves that had fallen from the canopy above. The strong, tall evergreens kept the place dark and shady still, but where the other trees had shed the morning light filtered in gently from above. The place seemed to grow quieter by the day as the usual cacophony of wildlife slowly began to descend into hibernation or disappear in preparation for the winter.

Today, however, Persephone did not have any intention of stopping to watch the nature in her home slowly. She had passed the summer lazily, and now she intended to get out and make some more of her all-important visits and connections before winter set in and she no longer felt like braving the frigid ocean.

Determined, she wound her way through the trees, heading for the shore in the distance so that she could be on her way. She had a few names to visit.
