Persephone’s eyes narrowed, curios, as Warsaw spoke of meeting Freya and Baldr before. So he had a motive, then, in his actions? Or he merely went after them because they were a known target? It seemed peculiar to Persephone to take such action unless he had some kind of relationship with Freya that he had yet to divulge.

“I would think if Freya wanted you to raise her son she might have asked,” Persephone replied coolly. “She is no prisoner of mine.”

She eyed him. The situation was unpleasant, of course, but it was interesting in a way. He wanted to know about her queenship, but why?

“Indeed you do,” she replied, tilting her head with interest. “Mariael is my ally. She was the first other queen I met on these islands, too. As for a Queenship, well, it’s much the same as a Kingship, you see. I look after my land and I look after my herd, there’s not much more to it than that in principle, though as you should know the job is often harder in reality than in principle.”
