It didn’t take long for Mariael to arrive, as Persephone expected. The sight of her friend and ally brought a smile to Persephone’s lips, the first genuine one in some time. It felt an age since she had set foot in her green home, and the incident with Talya before she left had already soured her for a while.

“Mariael,” she greeted warmly with a bob of her head. “I was already here, actually. I’m staying in the Inlet for a while.”

She watched for Mariael’s reaction, curious to know how much she knew of her new neighbour and how this information might be received.

“Well, captive there anyway. Warsaw tried to take one of my ladies – I lost the battle, unfortunately, but Freya had just given birth and I couldn’t send her to Tinuvel with a new-born at her ankles. So here I am instead,” she explained.

“Do you know much about him, this Warsaw?”
