I ran for U S Congress seat in 1990 but lost in the primary. I retired from the A F in 1988 and decided to try to replace the Democratic long term Congressman, George Brown. He always voted against military (or Milcon) appropriations despite having Norton AFB in his district. It looked like no-one was going to oppose him so I filed. On the last possible day a long term county supervisor filed and easily beat me in the primary. He then lost to George Brown.
