Ed, I agree "we are a nation based on high morals and we need allies that have the same democratic principles ."

In the case of Syria, Bashar al-Assad has been President since 2000. He succeeded his father, Ḥafiz al-Assad, who had ruled Syria since 1971.

Do you think Syria qualifies as a "democratic nation" ?
