It seems to me that Trump and the Democrats should be able to come to a compromise on border security spending; this, since the bill previously passed by the House and the Senate (and rejected by Trump) included $1.3 billion for improving border security---including money for improved fencing along the border.
This seems to be particularly true since Trump has now backed away from using the word "Wall" and is now talking instead about high tech fencing.
In this situation, it looks like the compromise would be about the amount of money involved---maybe $2.5 billion, instead of the $1.3 billion proposed by the Democrats and the $5.8 billion demanded by Trump.

I was surprised to hear Fox New's Shephard Smith calling out Trump for misleading statements, when factchecking Trump's oval office talk immediately after its conclusion. Replies:
