Re(2): Electing the President by National Popular Vote

From mining my memory about reading books about the Constitutional Convention and bios on each founding father : The founding fathers were concerned about the average citizens intelligence and ability to make good decision about the selection of good men to higher office, and they were averse to the popular majority vote ( the imposition of the majority questionable intelligence). And the determination of the number of electors due to the balance of house representatives and senators per each state. Counting slaves was a concern by the states. It was not a given all states would ratify the new constitution As I recall, even Rhode Island did nor\t send representative to the Convention. The development of the
Electoral College process was a political fight, and each state was to determine how and who was to be their electors
