If it hadn't been for his instinct to protect his herd Liland would probably of been dead from his depression.It hurt a lot that he had been without Zjeena or his twins for nine months. He had tried hard to get her back but failed in every way. He felt almost like a failure.If he hadn't won the bay back he would of been likely to walk off the ridge to his death..
