Vita Nova waits until Requiem is clearly out of earshot before peppering Petal with questions. She can see the familiar lines of worry that edged into her friend's delicate features, and Vita Nova begins to fret for her. It's been so long since she'd gotten word of the happenings of Luthien. The sooty-colored mare couldn't help but expect the worst. It was unlike her friend to travel all this way unless something was clearly and seriously wrong.
Only once Petal affirms that her brother and nephew are physically fine, does Vita Nova breathe a deep sight of relief. She nudges her friend then, with her cold muzzle at her shoulder, as her eyes continue to asses Petal. Her expression still showed concern behind her blue eyes.
"The Lagoon?" Vita Nova questions, her ears flicking forward and back as she listens to Petal explain. The Inlet Queen's heart sinks, fearing it was Jabari's recent trip that caused all this fuss. "Poor Jabari." She offered, her words slipping from her lips barely more audible than a whisper. Vita Nova heaves again, as she looks at her friend. "Jabari did come here Petal, but I got there just in time to stop Warsaw from hurting him. It was a mistake - he was quite embarrassed. But he seemed so troubled when he came here. Like something else was going on. His mind was ... elsewhere."
She offered, though she wasn't sure her words would do much to comfort Petal. "As for Shamwari, well.... I think you should give him a chance to come around." She offered sheepishly, unsure how Petal would take it. "He loves Jabari. More than anything. I can't imagine he'd hold this grudge over finding some way to be happy for his son." She said with the flick of her wavy grey tail.
Vita Nova got a creeping suspicion that maybe, Petal didn't plan on returning to Luthien. That of course was no business of hers, but it made her sad to think of the void left behind in the Prairie, if she did leave Luthien's shores. "Listen, there's something you should know." She said, her voice much quieter than before. Vita Nova looked in the trees around them, ensuring that Requiem wasn't eavesdropping nearby before speaking next. "It's not safe for you here. Warsaw and his allies are planning a full-out war." she admits. "Everything is so tense. I fear for all of us. My children and yours. Shamwari... Persephone..." Her voice trails off as her heart beat quickens. "Warsaw is hell bent on making them pay. This war is coming hell or high water."
