And the cold lonely air. On the rock restless seas. If there was one thing Tavas was grateful for this winter, it was that at least she wasn't on Salem. The Ridge wasn't half bad, she thought as she gazed on the lush, green offerings still available in the dead of winter. But the palomino mare would never admit that out loud to Bjorn. The rocky terrain was relatively warm compared to Tinuvel, but not nearly as harsh or desolate as Salem. So the mare was at least thankful she ended up somewhere where she wouldn't starve. If there was a second item to be grateful for, it was that she wasn't pregnant. Tavas watched as Bjorn's herd grew over the weeks, and as such, many of those mares' bellies. What fools, she thought, with the roll of her eyes. If she'd learned anything from her mother, it was to keep that tail down and packed at all times. The last thing Tavas wanted was to be fat and hungry right now, and then having a toddler following her around for months. But what scared her most of all was having any permanent ties to Bjorn. Thanks to his new collection of mares, the Icelandic stallion's interest seemed to have waned in her. Which was totally OK with Tavas. She had been seemingly stripped of her royalty title, now that Requiem shared that Warsaw had lost his hold over Tinvuel. The golden mare hated being so far away from home and not knowing what was going on. But perhaps Requiem was right. Maybe she was better off here... for now. Despite all this, she couldn't help but feel lonely. She missed her dam. She missed the fillies and colts she knew back in the Inlet. Everyone here was so busy with their own selfish interests, Tavas wasn't sure who to trust or who was worth confiding in. So she continued to toil day in, day out, wandering the Ridge by herself merely grazing. At least she was keeping herself full.
