The sultan cocks a single hoof as he settles into the relaxation that this little oasis offers. It is quiet and a moment of solitude. A moment for him to collect his thoughts. Between parted lips a sigh escapes, keeping the Dunes from falling apart is a full time job. Keeping the mares and foals safe is a full time job. And it is one that is beginning to exhaust him. He does not know what the future holds for him being the Sultan of the Dunes. But he knows that for now, he will protect the herd as best as he can. They all rely on him to provide them with shelter and a safe haven. The muffled sound of hooves in the sand draws him from his musing, his dark eyes search for the source, and is surprised when they fall on the figure of a mare he had met many months before. She moves gracefully across the sands, her steps are deliberate and confident, a trait he appreciates. His ears rotate forward within his thick onyx mane, curiosity written across his dished face. He has not seen her since their run in with Cain, so he assumed that Cain had laid claim to her and kept her captive in the Dunes. He is pleased to see that neither of those assumptions are correct. As she closes the distance between them, a soft nicker escapes her parted lips as she reaches her muzzle towards his. He arches his neck proudly, and reaches to her in an exchange of breaths. As he pulls his muzzle away, he eyes her. "Who are you?" he whispers. She appears like a ghost from the desert sands and yet disappearing in to the heat just the same.
