bring me back to life...

She was biding her time on the outskirts with Ryder, getting some grazing in before the long swim back to the Thicket. Her heart felt all fluttery at the thought of seeing Ruger again. She had missed him so much in her time away. It was surreal, seeing Requiem again, but she was glad to see he was still doing good and still the kind hearted stallion she knew him to be. Maybe they could put all this behind them now and Warsaw would leave them in peace. At least, that's what she was hoping. Requiem gave her her freedom to return but asked that she wait for Warsaw to return to the Forest so that's what she was doing. Biding her time and making sure Warsaw was gone so he wouldn't intervene when her and Ryder swam back to Luthien.

Her brown eyes looked up to the sky, watching it darken. There was a storm coming. Maybe her and Ryder would have to wait a little longer. She certainly wasn't going to take him in the ocean during a storm. Ryder looked up at her, his own amber eyes so like his father's as he glanced toward the sky with worry. "It'll pass through quickly. We'll wait it out." She assured him with a smile. "Okay, mom." Ryder agreed with a nod, lowering his head to grab another bite of grass. He was such an observant colt, always watchful for her, especially since they'd been separated from Ruger. It was kind of like he took over the position as her guardian until they could get back. Smiling at the thought, she glanced back toward the ocean, a heavy sigh falling from her lips. Soon....soon she would be back standing in the embrace of the love of her life.

As if conjured by the thought, her gaze swept over the shores of Tinuvel as if pulled by a invisible magnet. That's when she saw the tell tale black and white coat and those same amber eyes that could see right through her. Her own eyes widened. "Ruger..." She whispered his name, her whole body tense before she took off. Ryder froze for only a moment before he tore off after her, though he stopped some feet away to let them have a private moment. She stopped only a foot or two away from him, her heart racing as she looked him over. He looked almost the same as she remembered. Majestic, strong, every bit a stallion. Her nostrils flared, taking in deep inhales of his strong scent as she reached out her muzzle to him. "Ruger, you came for me."

She didn't expect him to pull away. As his ears pinned and his head lowered, her ears flicked back in dismay. What? Hurt and confusion clouded her gaze as she watched him, then a single ear flicked forward to hear that strange low sound in his throat. She had a vision of him from that day in the Common when he herded her to his herd the first time. He was all business then, snaking his neck at her with a finality that terrified her. That's when Requiem challenged for her and won, only for her to come across Ruger at the Falls and he opened up to her. When he did that, he broke through all the walls she'd built, letting her see the darkness of his past and the doubts for his future but more than that, he let her see he was just as scared as she was sometimes. She knew from that moment that she was meant to be with him. Just as he opted to call her his light, he was the solid ground she walked on, the fresh air she breathed. He called to her on a level she couldn't understand neither did she want to. She just knew that she needed him and she felt that he needed her too.

The way he was acting now though, it was all wrong. Something in him had changed since she left and it broke her heart to see it. She knew the old her would cower from his stance, but she had changed a little too. She looked back over her shoulder, her gaze meeting her son's. He couldn't understand why his father was acting like this, his own amber gaze so full of confusion as he looked between them. "Stay where you are, Ryder." She instructed him calmly, like she was facing down a venomous snake. Slowly she turned back to face Ruger and straightened up. Her muscles tensed, ready for anything as she met his gaze head-on and blew out a breath before taking a bold step toward him. "Ruger, we can go home. I have been freed. Your son and I are fine. I was waiting for the storm to pass so I could swim back to you." Once again, she reached out her muzzle, her gaze finding his, practically pleading. "Ruger...come back to me, my love."
