i do what i want

The cold of the air sunk into his thin winter coat, freezing him to his very bones. He wasn't a fan at all of the cold and living on the desert island of Salem didn't help him adapt to it any better. He couldn't stop shivering, even as he snorted and pawed at the snow beneath the trees. Maybe if he ran around some, he could drive his own body temperature up and get a little relief but one can only run so much. He probably wouldn't be staying here long. He could always come back when it warmed up in the spring. When the mare first laid eye on him, it was hard to read her expression. She didn't seem wary or scared like some mares can be when they see a stallion. If anything, she seemed curious, like she was trying to read him or something.

There was that brief moment where she tensed like she might run and Kamekaze slowed his movements, as if that would make him seem more harmless. Maybe if he didn't make any quick movements, she would know that he wasn't anything to fear. But finally she smiled when he spoke and he took it as a small win. She said she liked the rain and it was a nice change from the snow. He extended his head from under the cover for a moment, but quickly flinched when the water hit his muzzle, withdrawing it back under the tree before he gave his body a shake. "Still just as cold though." He muttered in distaste. When she invited him to come closer, his ears flicked uncertainly for a moment, not used to such trust from a stranger. But he knew if he hesitated too long, she might think better of it so he gave another smile and nodded. "Don't have to tell me twice."

It wasn't soon enough either cause the bottom dropped out of the sky as he moved under the tree where she was, huddling right up into the space she had created so that his side almost brushed her own. Once he was there though, the air felt tense and awkward. He was afraid to even turn his head toward her, afraid he might touch her and trigger a fear response or something and ruin the moment. He felt almost like he was holding his breath, his whole body motionless, afraid to even shift for fear of brushing against her and crowding her space. Her sudden question though set him off guard and his head snapped up a little, one brow lifting as he turned his blue gaze to her in question. "I don't believe so. Should I?"
