Sakhmet
..mare..five..arabian..grey..15.1 hh..

In all her thoughts and beliefs of herself, Sakhmet only held so much strength in her spirit and steel in her spine. In some ways, his offered placement for her seemed ideal. It was the duty the grey mare had given herself long again. But she knew, as she felt her breaking heart tear even further, she could not. Ever fiber in her felt as if it were undoing itself, for her to collapse into the sands with no will left of her own. Yet she continued to stand in silence, finally turning her head to look away.

“Perhaps you are right. I am only meant to be as you say. But I would have to rip out my heart and offer it to any god that deemed it worthy enough to take, to stand by and watch her love for another. To see her swell with child and her life move on while I am no more than a sentry to stand guard.” Sakhmet replied, her true heart break reflecting in her eyes before she turned away from the stallion. She would do what was asked of her, but she would not be the same. The blood marked mare would have to rid herself of every feeling, every thought she had ever had towards Eness. Although, in some ways, she had already resigned to that fate when she had left.

“You do not have to stand guard any longer, Aldebaran. After this night, I will feel no more pain.”
