Use caution when the wolf comes knocking;

Himena's persistence was one no doubt noted by the gods. There were times he wondered if she were not the plague sent upon his soul in reprimand for the desires of the world. He had thought her long gone, lost to the worlds that lay beyond the mountains with his sons and the empire he had set up for her there. He had not expected for her to leave those lands in search of him. Nor did he ever imagine that she would find him. Only the gods could have aided her in such a search. The rain on his parade.

Not only did she hunt him down, but now, now she was determined to haunt him day and night. He had hoped that she would find herself a place on the islands somewhere and perhaps even meet a young foolish stallion that might fall head over heels for her charming smile and sultry hips. He had hoped that what had once been between them would finally find rest in an unmarked grave and together they might find their separate ways in this world that they are forced to share.

But that is not the story that the moonlit mare wanted to paint.

Ears fall backwards as she finds him now, interrupting the few moments he had found to share alone with Annubis. Lips peel back from yellowing teeth as a voiceless growl rings from his lungs. Depthless emerald green eyes narrow as the small exotic mare prances towards him with a flashing grin. Despite himself a heavy sigh rumbles from his lungs as the stallion jerks his head away from hers and instead snaps his teeth at her exposed flank. "Clearly you can find nothing better to do than annoy me these days. What the father of this one tire of you already as well?" he asks, a single brow raising as a mischievous grin plays upon his lips.

It was unfair, he knew it. But still he could not help himself. Of course he felt for her, she was one of his first and no doubt truest companions. However there was something that lacked in their relationship that could not be created, no matter how hard he tried. And tried he had. When Davina disappeared, and the coltish fantasy of one heart and one mind disappeared, she found him. She had waited while the flame that burned between he and Davina slowly died and it had been her venom that pushed him into action. He had regained a territory for them, but he did not give it to her easily. She fought her way to his side and he tried, for a time, to pretend that it was everything he wanted and more. Reality had a different way of settling in however. Try as he might, he could not return the love that she sought from him. He cared for her deeply, and perhaps that is why the sting of her words and the sight of her belly swelling with another's foal irked him so. However he could not bring himself to stop her or to attempt to rekindle the emotions that he had once masked into place. It was for her own good. Or so he told himself. Despite the fire that burned in his belly of the hunger that salvated the beast's jaws.
