a sharp eye, a smooth talker

Bane’s lack of reaction made Eden’s head spin. Her gaze was still intense, and her ears pinned to her skull more tightly than her dam’s. She’s tense. Muscles rippling under her skin, the mare was upset. There were so many things, there were so many bad feelings. So many poor feelings. Spinning. God, everything was spinning.

I could ask you the same question. There are few words to describe Eden’s expression. She can’t figure out how to arrange her face, but she needed to pick her jaw up off the floor. Eden’s chest was borderline on fire, and she just wants to shout. She wants to kick, she wants to yell-- but she wasn’t a child. She wouldn’t have a child’s tantrum. Not a child. Not a child any longer.

“You sent me away, where else was I meant to go?” Eden’s voice cracked. Her volume rose slowly, but steadily. “You sent me away, away from you. The only other place that I knew to go was the one that you spoke of all the time, for as long as I could remember. I didn’t know anywhere else.” By the end, Eden was shouting. She couldn’t help what she was saying, her heart pounding in her chest. A wave of nausea crashed over her. There were too many feelings.
