Duck, Duck, Goose!

No, you could not stop time. Goose didn't want to honestly, but there were times where he wished it could be halted. Now is not one of these times though. The reunion was too special should his friend be home. He needn't have waited long either. The smaller figure could be spotted rushing toward him with a glint in their eyes. His own eyes lit up brightly as he spotted the mare coming toward them. Goose also saw his son dance on his hooves with excitement. A nicker had left the younger being's lips. A smile crept to Goose's face before his attention returned to the Shieldmaiden.

There was no ghost standing there. The two were as real as Valka herself. She need not doubt her senses. Those eyes of hers were not mistaken. The call had not been a memory in her mind. No. They were both present and waiting. As she slid up to them and pushed her muzzle against his warm skin. Gently Goose's nose slipped down to touch her cheek and run across to her neck that halted only for her shoulder. Gently his lips parted to brush over her thick; soft hairs.

"I am here Valka. I am no shadow of your imagination of this; I promise you."

There is a softness in those eyes. There is also respect, but there is also apology. Goose wished that he did not see the wear and tear in her features. Much struggle and hardship his friend had clearly been through. Goose wished he'd been here to take her through it all; to be a friend in need. Goose was not here though; not then. Nothing could change that now. Goose could only make up for his absence now and be here for her. Goose didn't wish to leave again. This was home and she was family. Too much time had taken from them all. No more. Goose would not allow himself to be absent in her life again. Not if he could help it. This was right where the golden stallion wanted to be. Goose also knew that Riddler would be much happier here where he belonged. With them.

"I've missed you my friend. I am sorry for my absence. I cannot really explain in words why. I wish I could. I do not however; intend to leave again. It takes too much away from me and clearly you my friend. I am sure I have missed too much."

Riddler stared at the little red mare and a soft nicker again left his lips. "Valka, ma'am. I've missed you too. Have you seen mother?" Riddler wasted no time invading her personal space and gently pushing his nose against her cheek. A warm breath parted from those lips of his against her fur and skin. There is a moment to inhale her scent and store it to his memory again. Finally; Riddler pulled his lips from her neck and his eyes are dancing with comfort. With delight too. The speckled young male pulls his ears forward now and waits; listening should words come. Mother was important to the boy too and he hoped that the little red maiden had seen her of late. It would ease the younger being's mind greatly.
