He hadn’t been alone for long with his thoughts. That was likely for the best, as the storm that was brewing a long ways off was one that would be less than good when it broke. Such is the nature of his depression, after all. There was a storm inside his chest… a storm that for now, he was able to control. It wouldn’t always be that way. It wouldn’t always be this way. Frey wouldn’t always be able to control himself, but for now, he was. For now things would be okay.
A call broke the silence, shattering the still and the quiet around him. His gaze flickered to the source, eyes wide. Ears flickering-- where? Who? She came closer. A pale creature, filled with energy and light. Frey’s head quirked to the side, but he can’t hide the smile that was starting to bloom on his lips. So much energy-- it’s infectious. A break in the clouds, in that storm that was brewing in his head. Frey would allow this to be a distraction.
He exchanged breaths with the vibrant creature. She was alight with so much energy. Frey was honestly grateful for the noise that she generated just by being here. “If you don’t want to be alone, I’ll keep you company.” The barely-a-man nodded once. It was an affirmative. He’d hang out with her, and maybe… games! Okay, sure. He’d play games too. Maybe it would take his mind off things? Frey could hope.
The strange, pale, painted creature spoke quickly. Far more quickly than Frey was accustomed to, but that was okay. He watched her carefully, curiously. “Teach me a game?” Right, a distraction. A distraction from all of the thoughts, and all of the feelings. The general’s son would be okay with that, right? Frey’s gaze is soft enough, glimmering with curiosity. Today would be okay.
