Brother Dearest

It wasn't my fault
I Promise
Damascus

Damascus let a low chuckle as his brother answered his question. “Running from your problems gets… a bit lonely.” Of course he knew exactly what he was talking about. His life had been a slow-paced river of monotony and routine. It was his way of running as he never had to face them. Wake up. Patrol. Bathe. Graze. Patrol. Rest. His routine had become a comfort but it was also stifling him. Now that he stood next to his brother, he could see that he was becoming soft. His lean muscles barely showed against his hide, and he was sure that Oberyn could probably outthink him in any pressured situation.
He shook his mane, trying to relieve the tension and the competition. His brother was here now, and that was all that mattered. He could change by himself, but he couldn't bring his brother back if he accidentally drove him away again. He pondered the next question for a moment, letting the words rest on his tongue to see how they felt before saying them out loud.
"I haven't gone much further than this shore. I have kept the territory I had last time and shifted it slightly towards the East, but nothing else has changed." He paused again before continuing. The words were spilling from his chest now, as though he had been waiting for his brother to save him from drowning in silent sorrows. "It's desolate here. Though the grass is abundant and the weather is calm, there aren't many other living beings. I don't even have to compete with others or defend myself from predators as none seem to want to go close to the sea. There have been a few adventurers of course, but as is instinct to their kind, they never stay for long. They wander, becoming nomads and exploring the world. I can't decide if I envy them, never having a place to call home, never having the consistency and the stability of herd life. But being able to see the wonders of the world and meet interesting characters, it does seem intriguing."
The stallion paused, now embarrassed for having rambled. He could almost feel the creep in his voice and knew that he would feel it later. Though he hadn't said much, it seems that it had been a while since he last used his voice. It was almost rusty and foreign to him as the company of others.
