IF YOU COULD ONLY SEE THE BEAST YOU'VE MADE OF ME
Creaking bones and the occasional groan were a good indication on where Hound was. Once a decorated warrior, herd stallion, and father, his best days were long behind him. Now more scar than horse he was effectively retired from that life. Not even the life of a bachelor suited him, as many of them were many years his junior and well...just plain annoying. What Hound lacked in height he had made up for in sheer strength and he made his power known. The smell of the salted air and bitter ocean grasses would never leave him and Hound found himself missing Ora quite often lately. It had been his last home and he knew every gentle curve of the crag covered beach. He'd made mistakes, quite a few, but he'd been a good leader in the grand scheme of things. He provided a home and he guarded those within his dwelling with fierce determination. He had never been a shoulder to cry on or a grand conversationalist, but no one ever expected him to be.
Even now he much preferred his solitude to the hustle and bustle of most gathering areas. Back in Ora he'd had a cozy sleeping spot with leaves and sea grass hidden behind the sharpest and most threatening rocks. The others never bothered to see what was behind such an unfriendly looking spot, and he'd quite liked it that way.
The meadow seemed a good enough place for some peace and quiet. While there wasn't a much coverage as he would have preferred, Hound found a spot with some tall grasses and nestled himself down amongst them. He pulled his thick legs up to his barrel, curling up as much as his large frame would allow him. His mismatched ears flipped back and nestled in the thick tangles that made up his mane. He chewed lazily on a few stalks of grass, grimacing at the overly sweet taste before spitting it back out with a huff. |
