BARDOUL THE GHOUL

Washed up like a piece of trash on the beach had been how Bardoul arrived. He'd lain in the shallows contemplating how he'd gotten there for hours before finally dragging himself up onto the beach. Even now the smell of salt clung to him as he moved lazily across the meadow. His body was dark and riddled in scars, a deep gouge running across his right eye-- or what was left of it. Even his mane which hung twisted and coiled was sparse in places where scars crisscrossed his crest. He'd been a handsome man in his younger days, but now he was haggard and twisted.
He could smell his sire somewhere, and he knew he'd been here. Not that Bardoul gave a flying fuck what that old man was up to. Hound had mellowed in his older years. The dog that rattled his cage was silent, most of the time, or maybe he tempered it well. But Bardoul...no, Bardoul's dog was alive and rabid. Fangs snapped and the beast growled. It growled, and growled, and growled.
She had almost gone unnoticed by him, ever lost in his sick thoughts. He stopped, swinging his head to look at her. Golden like the seas of sand he had seen in his travels. And like a predator he moved closer, muscles rippling beneath his uneven hide.
"My my darling, what do we have here?" His eyes flashed, malice, excitement, and something else you couldn't quite fathom. "Aren't you a pretty thing." There was no regard for personal space, no fear of kicks of squabbles. He inched closer, reaching out his whiskered muzzle to press against her neck. If she pulled away, it wouldn't bother him. He was used to it.
