I've been here the whole time singing you a song

I will carry you, I will carry you
mare - campolina - grulla - 15h - 8yr
played by leaf

With a groan and fluttering eyelids a grulla mare awakened slowly, coughing from the sand she must've swallowed from breathing while she was passed out on the shallow beach. Her head felt heavy and her neck struggled to lift it so that her soft brown eyes could look around. It was dark, middle of the night dark, and she squinted to help her see better. She was looking for someone in particular. "Estefania?" she hoarsely whispered. Her mind raced but she took a pause and a breath to gather her thoughts before they got too far away from her. She didn't see any movement, nor did she pick up any fresh, nearby scents. However some older ones lingered; she assumed from this that the land was occupied, but for now she was alone. One side of her mouth pulled down. The situation wasn't looking good. And where was her damn air-headed baby sister? She latched onto finding her and found the strength to stand, although it was difficult after fighting against the ocean for so long. Her dun sibling was torn away from her when a strong wave crashed down between them, ripping them apart and sending them their separate ways. She had hoped they would end up in the same current, and therefore land in the same area, but none of her senses could pick out Estefania.

Once she made it to her feet, she shuffled them forward, not quite able to move quickly just yet. She hoped there were no predators or a territorial herd nearby while she was in her weakened state, but at the same time, if nobody was around, there would be nobody to help her. Another frown as she debated with herself. ''Do I risk it?' She contemplated, weighing the pros and cons, but as she continued to move she felt her strength returning and figured by the time she was found she would be well enough to defend herself. Or at the very least run away. Deciding to announce herself would be the fastest way to reunite her with bubble-brain, so she whinnied, a deeper pitch than her high-voiced sister. She stopped, holding her breath and swiveling her ears around to catch the slightest answer, then shivered as she realized it was chillier here than where she had come from despite being late into the summer. Hopefully help ''-please let it be help-' would come soon.
