Should he have left the Arch? No, probably not, all things considered. Had he done it anyway, under the guise of 'clearing his head?' Absolutely.
The problem, of course, being that the Crossing was doing absolutely nothing to help with the clearing of his head, and had thus far left him footsore and cold. Not even the sort of cold that worked its way from the outside in, but the sort of chill that started inside and just grew until the consumed the whole of you.
Suleiman trailed his hooves absently through the powdery snow of the Meadow, his thoughts still tangled in the mess he'd made of his herd in the Arch. He didn't know what the hell he'd been thinking that day (or, well, he did, he just couldn't believe he'd let himself do it), or why he'd been willing to risk it.
