It had all happened so quickly; after settling with her newborns Akulu and Asana, the first couple of days and nights had been pleasant, it even seemed as though things were taking an upturn, for the relationship between herself and Kohelet had been on the mend.

But it quickly ended.

What she had thought was the beginning of her happily-ever-after was broken into a dozen pieces when in the middle of her sleep, a pair of teeth sent her storming through the woods and into the sea. She was purely a reactive sort, sometimes and it wasn’t until she’d surfaced that she realized she was not, in fact, being driven by Fell, and she was missing Asana. That was all it had taken for the panic to begin, but she feared the horse who’d driven her more. She recognized her fiery green eyes immediately, and the flash of her lashing teeth.

Blue urged Akulu to run with her before the brute could harm her -- and Blue knew she wouldn’t have hesitated. Many of her own scars had been from her captor…

She had suddenly fallen into a deep depression, as she knew she wouldn’t be able to escape. Not anytime soon, anyways. It’d taken a year… give or take, for her to find an opening, and that’s when Blue fled with Akulu. This time, however, it didn’t take pushing her child; she was equally as prepared, ready, and eager. Together, they’d make the journey for the second time and for Akulu, it wasn’t as frightening. Which isn’t to say she wasn’t afraid or apprehensive, for the last time she made this journey? She’d been pushed to run harder and longer than she ever had, and by the time they’d been allowed to stop, her legs and hooves had been so very stiff.

Both of them were stiff and tired, by the time that they’d arrived to Tinuvel, but the apprehension and eagerness to reunite with what was familiar and comfortable was high. Akulu’s voice was no longer small and child-like, but that of a nearly fully matured, realized mare, and it was surprisingly hers that filled the air with a neigh, as they pulled themselves from the sea.

The blue mare would shake herself and trot across the rocky beach, not seeming to mind nor care about how cold it was. Her ears were swept back (though not quite pinned) with apprehension as to how this reunion might go. She has no doubts about Akulu’s place and acceptance here. But for the blue mare, herself? She wondered about the level of anger her herd would have for her.
