as love and it's decisive pain

KNOW THAT I WOULD GLADLY BE
the icarus to your certainty

If the situation was not as dire as it was and they weren’t in the Lagoon, Orphiel might’ve liked to allow Devi some time to rest and recuperate after such an emotionally (and physically) draining journey. But there was no time for either of them to rest, the worry that something was wrong with Parvati drew Orphiel immediately up the length of Crossing Isle and then directly into the sea. He threw himself at the waves with vigor, sloshing through the current and cutting through it as swiftly and quickly as he could. There were only a few times he was able to look back and make sure Devi was still with him.

Together they pulled themselves ashore on the Inlet beaches and the cool Tinuvel air immediately bit into his wet coat. Orphiel only shook the water away and pushed himself up the beach, still too filled with worry-driven adrenaline to take any sort of pause. He glanced up the shoreline, considering bellowing out for Parvati, then realized how foolish of a mistake that could be.

He didn’t know the structure of her herd, though he assumed it must be somewhat similar to how she had ruled the Thicket. (Briefly his heart ached as it always did when he thought of those wonderful, happy days in the Thicket.) There would most likely be other stallions living here and though he was here alongside Devi, he’d rather avoid getting any of them involved. All he wanted was to find Parvati, to see her and to make sure she was actually fine or, if she wasn’t, to help her to be. All the other bullshit that’d clouded his heart since they’d split apart was pushed aside, stepping back to be replaced by the love for her that never once faded, no matter how much he’d wished it might.

Orphiel glanced at Devi. “Will you take me to her?”
