Ghosts whisper in my ears.

Laying there, Nahawi watched the mare's face change with the feelings inside her and he winced away from her, as best as his broken body would let him. The blue of his eyes held pain not for just himself anymore as he watched her stand there and seem to grow in anger. It made no sense to him honestly for he did not know what all the lagoon was like before he joined, but he had a feeling just the lagoon part would make him a hated creature among many now that he saw her react to that. No one showed him that and Vadim had not made the lagoon so terrible… was that why he felt so out of place there now?

The moment Vadim’s name left her lips and then the rest, the stallion balked back more with his face draining of color under his fur. Is… is that what the stallions there did? They stole mares away from their homes and drug them to the lagoon? Shivering, Nahawi looked at the ground, finally unable to look her in the eye. He was indeed lonely, but who would know other than himself? The lagoon had fallen deathly silent until the elections and now he was seeing more stallions than ever before. It was honestly disgusting that they came out of the woodwork, wanting Psychedelics place as boss without even having noticed before he was gone. Nahawi knew though and he knew Vadim had been stolen but he had not saved the other stallion himself for Vadim followed willingly from what the scent leftover had spoken of.

“I am not like Vadim if what you say is true. I don’t want to take mares away from their homes if they do not wish to leave. Vadim never spoke of what would come in the lagoon, just that it was a place for bachelor stallions.” Nahawi was curious now, just how many bad apples were in the lagoon. He could not run them out… but what if he became boss like he hoped? Could he change the way things were there? Shoving those thoughts away, he finally looked back up at her for a breath of a moment. With conviction behind his words, the stallion let a dangerously low tone leave his lips.

“I would come fighting for any mare that was stolen from me if they came willingly.”
