GUIDELINES
common sense, really
i. the Prairie stands as a symbol of peace and prosperity among the islands
ii. anyone is welcome to live here so long as they do not bring harm to the Prairie or any of it's residents
iii. adventure and exploration is not only allowed, but encouraged! residents are asked to use their better judgement and not travel to places that could bring them harm
iv. the head of the prairie has final say in all prairie matters. the secondary and third positions are not able to be challenged for and are selected by the head
v. the guardians take on a more active role in the prairie; they must protect the inhabitants of the prairie and go on patrols of the prairie borderlines and shore. they can welcome strangers to the prairie and invite anyone to live here, though they must inform one of the leaders of any newcomers or visitors
if you obey all the rules

Hirka was angry. Every bite of grass she took was snapping and ripping from the Prairie soil, while her tail whipped from hip to hip. The painted mare could not believe her stallion was such an idiot, or that Aura was so pathetic. Perhaps she should have stated she would go in the coward’s stead. Rather than trying to hide in the shadows, Hirka would have been such a nightmare for those Lagoon stallions, they would have willingly sent her home. At least her parents raised her with a backbone.

When Castillon approached, Hirka thought about purposefully giving him the cold shoulder. Instead, she lifted her head, ears pinned and expression clear to read. The painted mare hid nothing. “No, you don’t need to explain yourself.” She snapped. “But you don’t need to lie either. You won’t be back in the winter, unless you manage to win a fight with that bastard.” Maybe he needed to stay gone until he had gained that strength and experience. If he was to one day lead the Prairie, he wouldn’t be successful (in her opinion) if his only experience in life was living here.

“Don’t expect me to be here when you get back.” Hirka stated bluntly. “And I’m not going to explain myself, either.”
