A
n eerie silence filled the space of land called the Ridge. Birds no longer sang and small forest critters were not scurrying around. Ocean waters crested the beach and pulled against the sand as large hooves began to catch purchase upon the sliding ground. Dark eyes blinked back water as a black body surfaced from the rolling surf. Muscular haunches pushed against the sand when finally the equine ws free of the water and watching a red dun yearling move ahead of him.
Shaking his head, the large shire named Lucifer eyed the land in which he came ashore. There seemed to be no scents of others in the wind and it had the stallion tilting his head for a moment. He had claimed this place a while back and then went to get his daughter, but there were still no scents here from before. Maybe the old herd was hiding? Rolling his eyes at the thought, the stallion snorted before his frame shifted to head up an overgrown trail to the top of the ridge.
Rising from the shore and to the top of the ridge, Lucifer guided Tefnut with him before stopping at a place where he could look over so much more of the land. His black ears perked forward before he shifted his weight and lifted his head to send out a call. His voice carried over the vast territory calling to anyone that had stayed and those that might be searching for a new home. It would take time of course to find others, but when his voice ended and the moon rose behind his back, the stallion's bright eyes flashed as a dark grin lit his face and his daughter's own matched in a twisted sort of sinister smile.
