Oh, you want battle?
I'll give you war.
The girl seems nervous, which is hardly surprising. I hadn't exactly bothered to tell her much about what we were doing. Being gentle or fatherly wasn't a skill I had ever witnessed from my own father, and had certainly never expressed myself. As she had said, she was upright and standing, and that was mostly what mattered to me.
The first stallion to approach is unfamiliar - the scent I hadn't recognized - and I kept my gaze locked on him as he paraded closer. It would not be out of the realm of possibility for him to decide to attack immediately - erroneously believing I was here to take something of his. If you're looking for a handout, the silver stallion drawls and I snort softly. My eyes had darkened at the question, a laugh blooming that I smother into a low chuckle with a shake of my head.
"I didn't think you had anything here worth taking," I lob back at him, a smirk curling on my lips. It was perhaps not wise to antagonize him, but I was still angry at the loss of Khar'pern. My tail lashed against my quarters as the familiar-ish figure of Lucifer joined the fray. He limped, and something dark swam in his eyes, but I didn't pry. Neither stallion looked at each other, but there seemed to be some unspoken understanding between them of their places here.
Whatever. Not my circus, not my monkeys.
"She's old enough to need a home of her own," I answer simply, my gaze resting on the massive ex-Lagoonie before sliding back to Annubis. "And since loyalty matters, I'd thought I'd come offer an ex-brother the chance to take care of her." I make the equivalent of a shrug, my mind spinning. Hiyori would be upset with me if she learned that I was offering Hiyori to Lucifer - basically putting her back in the hands of the Lagoon without truly living in the Lagoon - but if I could spin it that I offered her Paradise and she made the decision? Well. Then my little mouse might forgive me after all.
Switching the dark umber strands of my tail, I cast a gaze toward the girl, addressing her while making it clear that I was also speaking to all of them. "But since you're both here, I'll let Izumi pick. It is after all going to be her new home."
