GUIDELINES
common sense, really
i. the Prairie stands as a symbol of peace and prosperity among the islands
ii. anyone is welcome to live here so long as they do not bring harm to the Prairie or any of it's residents
iii. adventure and exploration is not only allowed, but encouraged! residents are asked to use their better judgement and not travel to places that could bring them harm
iv. the head of the prairie has final say in all prairie matters. the secondary and third positions are not able to be challenged for and are selected by the head
v. the guardians take on a more active role in the prairie; they must protect the inhabitants of the prairie and go on patrols of the prairie borderlines and shore. they can welcome strangers to the prairie and invite anyone to live here, though they must inform one of the leaders of any newcomers or visitors
whispers in the tall grass » open

The sable dunskin stood idly in the tall heather. However, his hazel eyes were keenly scanning the surrounding landscape. Now more than ever, the inexperienced leader was getting antsy about raiders and challengers. He fear the possibility of losing and members of the herd equating it to weakness.

Brown and white tendrils of his mane twist against the span of his neck in a breeze. With it came the scent of sweetgrass and sage and the faint scents of his young children by Zahara. Warmth spread through his chest at the thought of them and of their mother. Zahara had been steadfast in her support of him since his ascension to the lead position. Vernonia too had not born ill will in his filling her sire's place, but not seeing her and their daughter often enough pained him. And Rósin, he still didn't know what to make of her.

Closing his eyes, Lir breathed deeply and stilled himself. He could take care of this herd. He would gain his footing and eventually flourish. Zevulun had believed it, had believed in him enough to let him take his place. He could start thinking the same way, couldn't he? His green eyes opened with renewed confidence, and Lir strode forward through the tall grass. Destination unknown.
