He had failed her just like he had failed Lucine. Rage engulfs his body as he paces back and forth on his beach. He had promised to protect her. To keep her from having to fight for safety ever again. Now he was left to explain to Tino why his mother had been ripped away. And why he had failed. Parvati tried to comfort him saying she understood his pain of losing loved ones. She, herself, was alone with all of her lovers having gone. The fact did not being him any comfort. It only created guilt and a reason to retaliate. Raini did not deserve to be taken to some unknown island with a stallion set of collecting mares.

Something he had once done himself. It was all a big heap of karma.

Like a ticking time bomb, Nico was unable to contain himself as he leaps into the sea. His legs burn as he crosses the ocean to Atlantis where Annubis had taken Raini. Upon his descent on Paradise he quickly goes after the first mare he sees. In retaliation he fights, and wins, not really knowing he could be stripping a mother from her child just as Annubis had Raini. Rage fuels his win as he guides the dark painted mare (and filly if Promise follows) into the darkening depths of the sea.

It wasn't until he returned to the Inlet that the sun fully sets and the land is fully dark. It is only now that he is able to choke out words to the mare through gritted teeth. "You should only have to be here a little while," He says. "Your stallion took someone important to me so I took from him. It is my hope that he cares about you enough for an even trade." Nico turns to fully lay his blue eyes on her.
