Memories can be so fleeting

The mare hadn’t heard him approaching thanks to the howling wind. Her first indication that anyone was around her was when the wind seemed to die down a bit, although not in a natural way. Bringing her head up and opening her eyes she saw him. His coat was a coal black, his eyes were a striking red color how unusual she thought, or maybe it wasn’t she didn’t know right now with her memories still fuzzy. Catching his words she smiled thank you she said, genuinely meaning it. She didn’t think many horses would come to aid of a stranger, of course he could be seeking something in return but for now she would take the kindness he offered.

With him taking the brunt of the storm, she found it a lot easier on her pounding head without the wind battering her. It would be useless to try and strike up a conversation now though, what with the wind still howling through the trees and the thunder booming over the lands. So with little else to do she once more tucked her head to her chest and closed her eyes to wait out the storm.

She jerked awake, blinking and confused for a moment as her eyes focused, finding the black stallion still close. Lords had she fallen asleep next to a complete stranger in a thunder storm! Then again, maybe it wasn’t all that shocking considering she had a head injury, concussion, the pounding inside her skull and she had been exhausted from fighting to get out of the ocean. When she put it that way, she guessed it wasn’t as shocking as she thought. Realising she was still internally thinking things through and not talking her focus shifted back to the stallion.

Apologies, I didn’t mean to fall asleep Her slight chuckle was mixed with her embarrassment of such an act. Thank you again for sheltering me she offered once more My name is.. she paused, her eyes losing focus as confusion flitting across her face. Quietly she mumbled those 3 words once more, this time more to herself.

Dark eyes focused back on the stranger my name.. is Teagan she said slowly, her voice unsure as she added I.. think at an almost whisper to herself.
