GUIDELINES
common sense, really
i. the Prairie stands as a symbol of peace and prosperity among the islands
ii. anyone is welcome to live here so long as they do not bring harm to the Prairie or any of it's residents
iii. adventure and exploration is not only allowed, but encouraged! residents are asked to use their better judgement and not travel to places that could bring them harm
iv. the head of the prairie has final say in all prairie matters. the secondary and third positions are not able to be challenged for and are selected by the head
v. the guardians take on a more active role in the prairie; they must protect the inhabitants of the prairie and go on patrols of the prairie borderlines and shore. they can welcome strangers to the prairie and invite anyone to live here, though they must inform one of the leaders of any newcomers or visitors
whispers in the tall grass | open

Hazel eyes took in the signs of spring's fading with a quiet contemplation. Where many of he wildflowers would cease their blooming, more would blossom with the heat of summer. Foals had been born across the islands. Sable eyelids close, shielding the stallion's gaze- as if they might be able to spare him his fears and ceaseless questions by taking away his sight.

His thoughts often turned to Vervain these days: his younger sister, twice stolen away by a Lagoon man in the dead of night. How old would her daughter- his niece- be now? Had spring brought his stardusted sister a new child this year? Often he agonized over their unknown fate. Perhaps too often... but the loss of her light and laughter had affected him deeply. It made him irrational, as the last few seasons had proven.

The Prairie lead turned away from the setting sun as it careened toward the horizon and ambled deeper into the rolling grassland, hoping to leave the thoughts behind for now and fill his focus with someone here in the present.
