I think almost everyone is thrilled that Benny and Dania are keeping full court jai-alai alive.
But that might be more than we can say about the fan base. It seems that there are very few new parimutuel-betting participants. And the old-timers are steadily aging-out in various ways, including due to 9 months of nothingness between seasons.
Looking arbitrarily at the YT video of MC from 9-25, game 6, the last display of pool totals looks like:
Q: $98
Ex: $229
Tri: $1114
Meaning that any $2 bet heavily steps on your payout. And of course a $2 bet from 1980 would align with almost $8 today. Unless you are content to bet and win peanuts, these mini-pools will automatically turn any substantial bet from potentially long-term winning, to defo losing. So these pools are a no go.
Of course it you get massive rebates, that changes the equation. But for ordinary bettors, it sucks, plain and simple.
With all that in mind, what do we forecast for upcoming Dania?
I'd like to be optimistic, but I think the continued shrinkage is undeniable. Replies:
