GUIDELINES
common sense, really
i. the Prairie stands as a symbol of peace and prosperity among the islands
ii. anyone is welcome to live here so long as they do not bring harm to the Prairie or any of it's residents
iii. adventure and exploration is not only allowed, but encouraged! residents are asked to use their better judgement and not travel to places that could bring them harm
iv. the head of the prairie has final say in all prairie matters. the secondary and third positions are not able to be challenged for and are selected by the head
v. the guardians take on a more active role in the prairie; they must protect the inhabitants of the prairie and go on patrols of the prairie borderlines and shore. they can welcome strangers to the prairie and invite anyone to live here, though they must inform one of the leaders of any newcomers or visitors

The summer had been one of the hottest that Lir could remember. Heat had plagued Luthien this summer. Yet little rain had fallen. For once, it was lucky that the herd that remained behind in the Prairie wasn't as large now as it had been under his predecessor. They hadn't had to worry as much over the lower water levels in the creeks and rivers that wound through the grasslands-- not that the sable hadn't worried anyway. Aside from that glaring issue, the season had passed rather uneventfully.

If he was honest with himself, Lir had been waiting for Zira or one of her relatives to stir up trouble. This whole thing with Citrus had gone on too long. He should not have acted rashly then, but hindsight was doing little to repair the situation with his former ally. A long breath escaped from the stallion's pale nostrils, flaring to life little red veins that ran beneath the delicate skin, as he mused on the subject. He needed to address the issue; that much was certain. If peace was to continue on Luthien, the relationship with the Savanna must be mended.

The first thing to do would be to see if Citrus wanted to return to her former claimer's home now that she had had space for a while. From there, Lir supposed he could decide next steps. The stallion made to walk on patrol along the southern border, his pace slow and methodical as the male moved from his place among the sapling beech trees. The thoughts milling in his head turned to the children he'd raised with Zahara here, growing like weeds among the wild indigo and phlox of the Prairie. He needed to keep them, keep everyone safe.
