What a ridiculous book title, as if its author never studied the Chinese Culture. ITs been an inward culture for centuries and didn't get drawn out until Nixon visited and opened it up.
China was a nation that built a wall around itself, which explains everything! They're very introverted. Just read their proverbs. The Nail that sticks UP is pounded down! That says it all...and that concept is totally foreign to the American culture except for our JudeoChristian literature. Jews are all about rules and that's the theme of the entire first half of the Bible. Which is why the fundamentalists are so into rules. And they love Old Testament which isn't Christian at ALL!
As to China, that's all a product of the last 50 years, and no they will not be going back into the box. They've been studying self awareness and the behavior of other cultures while we westerners have been all blustery about ourselves.
I think he's got it backwards, the Rising One is far more dangerous than passive, stagnant China! We wont be around to watch the next 50 years because of our short lifespans, but I suspect they are the culture to reckon with on this planet! Stagnant isn't how I'd describe them. They've come OUT!
