Re(6): Oh it wasn't about Jim and Me?

Well, a 'bad person at heart' is a lay person's diagnoses--not a list of measurable psychiatric traits of the conditions you listed. Numbers 1, 2 and 4 look amazingly close to SOME of the behavior of narcissists... which I think is more of a mental illness because they even do it with people they love and who love them. Not really much different than a physical handicap that may or may not be cured.

Of your symptoms listed, clearly Jim you understand those you mentioned. Some out of the book in what I call "shrink-speak."

Did you just add the other traits yourself, tho? Not sure they're exclusive to the rest. I think narcissists don't really care or notice the feelings of other people. They're just into their own needs.

Lying? Well, that's a sign of either self deception (like paranoia) or deliberate manipulation of others. So not sure that one's exclusive to narcissistic behavior. And not necessarily a sign of a 'bad heart' as you call it.

I've only seen one in my time that fits the first four of those traits; he happens to be our president. If we didn't see him on TV so much exhibiting many those behaviors, we wouldn't connect them together to him, or see the similarity in a few others.

What I dont see are any suggested treatments on the internet and so anti-social people are just endured or shunned. But if narcissists are so common as in 1 in 20 of us, as I've read, everyone recognizes the traits even if they dont' know the name applied to them.

The last two traits you list seem different, IMHO. Adverse feelings of others. Again, I'm not sure narcissists are even aware of how other people feel, or their welfare.

People who see others they perceive as 'bad people' may indeed take joy in their misfortunes but that's way more common even in people who don't have the other traits. THe polls show more than half would smile if Trump fell on his ass, but that doesnt make us all have bad hearts. That's only an Old testament that justice should prevail on such people.

With all due respect to your attempts to learn and then judge others of who's naughty and who's nice, I'd say you need to take a class or two in abnormal behavior. Some of your writings demonstrate to me you suffer from some of those and are preoccupied by those traits in others, though not yourself. Wonder how many people take an interest in disorders to help them diagnose whats going on with them, themSELVES?

Being idly retired and not closely around others, that seems a bit late to seek therapy to fix them because everyone who was around you (or us) already has our number, so to speak. I've learned myself burned bridges are hard to rebuild. And the ones who stuck with us probably deserve medals for tolerating those traits. Have you noticed in Trumps aging years, his family has flown the coup? Maybe they've gotten enough money out of him now to feel secure and now just want to get away from him for their own sanity! I've noticed that old people are usually not as likeable as they were when they were younger, more attractive, and not so set in their ways. Er, set in OUR ways!

In anycase, it seems easier to diagnose the faults in OTHERS than it is, ourselves! Do we agree on that one?
