Change had finally come to the Bay.
For several years now, it had been he, Emhyr, and Kohelet and their respective herds living in peace within the forests of the Bay, hidden in northern obscurity. Canis had left in recent weeks to set eyes on his younger sister Impera. His unfamiliarity with the lands south had impeded him greatly, resulting in him finding only snatches of her scent across the wilds of the Crossing and Salem alike.
Many scents clashed along the Salem borders now: a sign of fate's shifting winds. This worries him some on Impera's behalf. However, seeing as how her scent crossed many borders and both islands, Canis went home. He hadn't found her, but Impera was not being kept from them as far as he could tell. She was free and would come home once she saw fit.
Upon returning home to the Bay, however, Canis found that things were not how he had let them. Emhyr's scent had been overtaken by those of at least two foreign mares. The dappled stallion's mismatched ears had twisted quizzically upon noticing this. He followed the Bay's familiar footpaths with a quiet quickness, finding what members of his herd had not scattered at their coming. After reassuring mare and progeny alike, the grullo headed out in search of the Bay's new claimer(s).
The first stranger he laid eyes on was down on a stony stretch of beach. A fair distance remained between them, but Canis could see the red tones of her spotted pelt easily enough. The stallion drank in the salty air of the sea but came no closer. Instead, he nickered to her. The sound was friendly enough, and he would nod to her once the red mare noticed him. Sea air batted playfully at his silver locks, twisting and pulling a tress or two over the topline of his neck. Canis would wait for her to approach.
