She didn't seem to have any new injuries and she didn't claim any. Addison only mentions her old one, that large scar he could clearly see lining her shoulder. The trauma she has endured was deep much like his own. Their situations may have been different, his scars unseen, but he felt connected to her. It was like she would understand without having to explain anything.
Aug continues to groom her when a chuckle fills the silence. He was surprised, but he continues even as she tries to look at him. His own smile tugs at his lips as he doesn't answer her question right away. Maybe it was best she was kept guessing. Bring a little mystery into the moment before he asked his own question. This is when her muzzle brushes slightly against his own. He stops, his mouth pulling up a bit to look towards her face.
Her apology only brings his mind into a whirlwind. The touch, even as light as it was, had sent an electric shock through his body. It was a sensation he has not felt in such a long time. Aug adjusts his body to step closer to her front. His muzzle reaches out to lightly touch her cheek. If she shyed away he would pull back, but if she allowed it he would stay gently touching her as his eyes close.
"Don't apologize Addi. Can I call you that?" A nickname only shows how close he has been feeling towards her lately. They have spent months together on and off now. His recent sickness had drove him away from everyone, but now that he was well he needed her to know. If Starla and his older brother had taught him anything in life it was that time could be fragile. Anyone could die at any given moment.
"I want you by the side." His eyes slowly open again. "My daughters are grown now and they will be leaving for their own adventure soon." He had seen how she reacted when she first met them. They had not been little babies, but still young at the time. "I have come to the conclusion that their mother will never return. It is a mystery what happned to her and I had loved her very much, but I cant hang on a ghost forever." He sighs lightly, feeling the tension build up in his body.
"One day I will be taking over the Inlet so that my father may retire. I don't want to do it alone. Addison..." His voice trails off as he thinks how he wanted to say this. It takes a few seconds of silence before he speaks again. "I would like you with me. I want to take care of you. I care about you." There he said it. Silence falls again as he let's his words hang there. Knowing her struggles he did not know what she might say. As of right now he no longer had anyone close to him except his father.
