I'll leave destruction in my wake! Posted on May 8, 2026 at 03:07:53 PM by ASh
Far from the tiny foal he was a year ago Ash had matured, at least in height, quickly. He now rivaled his mothers height although still lanky and lacking any sort of build to his frame, like most yearlings did. The colt was as wild and unruly as the wind when it ran over the dunes, much to his mothers displeasure for his cheeky attitude. Although it was fair to say he was actively avoiding her ire currently, she had a bit of a temper with him and some of his irritating behaviour the closer she got to foaling, and he his coat, similar to her own, showed how often he had push her buttons too far recently. Not wishing to be scoulded anymore than he had been he had gone down towards the waters edge, hoping he might see Beleth on his travels which would give him someone to muck about with.
He sighed, boredem setting in as he glanced around, not having seen the colt anywhere he glanced at some seaweed that had washed up, considering weather it was beneath him to play with it at his age. His ears pricked up as he heard a whinny, tilting his head left and right as he worked out what direction he thought it had come from. He narrowed his eyes, seeing something in the distance, he was too far away to work out what it was, other than a blob of dark coloured something.
He released his own whinny, still slightly high pitched thanks to his age before propelling himself at speed down the sandy beach. It didn’t even occur to him he could be running into trouble, not knowing what he was running towards. He slowed to a easy canter as he got closer, unsure what was going on, his father having just pulled a mare out of the water who resembled a drowned rat. He stopped several feet away, confusion making him cautious for a change as he eyes scanned the mare, noting her rounded stomach - a very pregnant drowned rat - he mentally correct himself before clearing his throat in case he father hadn’t sensed him.
Dad he paused, not entirely sure what to say right now what’s going on? there was concern in his voice, his mind whirling with questions he wanted to ask who was she? What had happened to her? And knowing his father and his outlook on outsiders what was their relation to each other? Because it was obvious to Ash that they knew each other. He inhaled, his fathers scent mingling with something slightly familiar, still he didn’t understand what, why or how, instead believing it was just his fathers scent over her due to him pulling her ashore.
Should I go get mom? He asked, feeling somewhat helpless just watching. His mother was resourceful, but also very heavily pregnant herself, his father might not want her here if there was any danger lurking. So instead the colt followed it up with his next question, hooves shifting lightly in the sand, wanting to do something or can I help?
