Maybe its competence Posted on June 23, 2026 at 09:23:05 AM by The Ghost of Kellyaga
Capture new and younger fans” - ok, not using AI what are those acquisition costs per bettor?
Really?
Going back in time....during an active semester, the University of Central Florida had one day of the week where companies could set up a booth within the very active student center. The cost was 40 dollars. What a great, cheap idea. Have a player or two dressed in uniform with equipment and running video to market college kids, 15 minutes from the fronton.
It was like pulling teeth to try and convince Santi Echaniz and the marketing lady at the time that....maybe its worth the very minimal investment to generate a current, possibly a long term customer. Finally convinced, the Orlando braintrust paid the 40 dollars and left Vega and Sierra alone at the booth for the day. No marketing lady...no staff...just the 2 players to try and drum up business.
Stu, maybe we can bring up competence into this historical discussion!
