How do I start this out? I suppose I could think about how the sun shines on the flowers or maybe how those flying animals in the sky never cease to spark my imagination… But I think I’ll start out with the sky. Summer skies are pretty- they’re a nice beautiful color of blue, and the white fluffy clouds seem to just blend into the picture as if they were meant to be there. I smile to myself, humming a little as I prance along, not a care in the world. The trees smell of vanilla and other such things that my little narettes have never even dreamed of before. It is truly a wonderful thing to experience such smells… and after a while, I’ve found out that the difference between one tree and another can be told by sticking your nose right up next to the bark. Of course… some trees have little creatures crawling up the side of them… and those are normally the tree’s that bite, so I steer clear away from those trees if I can. I have no parents to teach me these things… but that’s okay! I’d rather bother myself than others to figure out things… smiling again to myself, I continue on my journey, sure that there was something of interest around here somewhere… maybe I could make someone happy! Oooh that would be just wonderful!
Suddenly, my bladder takes the plunge and I puff out my cheeks, whining a bit as I look around to find a decent place to go to the bathroom at. Ah! There! That tree! I hop over to it and sniff it- whew, someone else already went here… they won’t mind if I use their toilet just this once, right? Well… I gotta pee! Once I’m done, I continue on… of course, I’m too carefree to even notice that that was a scent line that I’d just crossed a few lengths back. It didn’t matter to me- it was merely a place to go to the bathroom, and that was that.
Suddenly, a flapping sound pronounced itself from my left…In that one moment that I was actually listening and paying attention, the worst thing in my life (yet) happened. An unidentified object popped into my face and gave me a look that would turn anyone into a blob of nothingness. I paused for a moment, blinking, and then let out a VERY high pitched… UUUUAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I flung myself backwards, away from the strange creature, as everyone but me know as a swallowtail butterfly with an evil face on its wings, and I collapsed into the bushes behind me, letting out an oofff! As I went. What was that!? I can only dream of the answer, and honestly, I don’t want to see it again!!
My toffee optics peek out from the prickly bush I’ve fallen into and I make haste to get out of the foliage. It hurts! My nose has been stabbed multiple times by those sharp little leaves, and I’ve had more than my fair share of excitement for right now… Jumping up to my pillars and wiggling to get myself free of the hurting bush, I put so much more effort than was actually needed to speed off away from there. But clumps of my desert and rose colored pelt is left behind, and my pawprints don’t exactly disappear into the soil… anyone could follow me right now and I wouldn’t even know why or how they found me. But that’s of no importance. I’m just glad to be free of that bush!
I’m such a clumsy thing that I’ve already face-planted twice since I got out of that prickly disaster monster back there. The one that hurt my nose, yeah? Well… now I’m dirty and there’s no way I can reach some of those places… the space between my eyes is the hardest to get… I give up on trying to get all the soil off within the time span of about five minutes… and then I’m off again. Not moments after though, I catch my reflection in a puddle of rainwater that was just there. Enthusiastic as always, I wag my tail and look into the watery mirror. Hello! My name is Kobato! The girl in the water stares back at me with the same amount of smiley goodness that I have… Well- what’s your name? She doesn’t reply. Oh well- I’m Kobato, it's a pretty name don't you think- hey, hey, you wanna play? I lower into a playful position and she disappears from view. Gasping, I get back up and look again. She’s there! You know how to play hide-and-go-seek! How fun! Here- you be it, and I’ll go hide! Don't peek! Count to ten, kay- kay?! I turn and run off, thinking that she’s going to count to ten and then come after me.
But she never does. Sighing with a bit of disappointment, I continue to sit in my hiding spot, which is, unbeknownst to me, in a pack territory. Sooner or later, I fall asleep in the warm sun… standing up no less, a small smile on my cheerful face. A nap is just what I needed!
