aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

I've been lying low, fighting off the beast inside as best I can. The nightmares have come back with a vengence, ridding me of what little sleep I can gain and feeling my head with demons and bloodshed. A growl rumbles in my chest about every time I hear a noise, whether it be the rustle of a leaf in the wind or just the claws of a squirrel dancing along a nearby tree trunk. My nerves are frayed, my mind on edge, my body a jumbled tangle of adrenaline, fear, and blind anguish. I wish I could tame this monster once and for all. I wish I could rid my body of his pestilence, but I fear that once more my barriers are breaking down, letting the beast ever closer to escape.

I crave Akina's scent like an antidote to my poison, my veins pulsating like live snakes looking for the next place to bite as I toss and turn in my sleep, snarling at shadows on the walls of my deserted den. Finally I decide that sleep will not come so I get up and start wandering aimlessly through the lands, my tail waving in frustration, my eyes bloodshot and wild.

When the call echoes throughout Aurora Borealis, I pause, ears pricking as a snarl rips from my chest at the sudden noise. I force myself to relax, or at least as close to relaxing as my body will do these days. Only then do I move forward toward the call. I recognize the voice as Cody, the colorless male who I met at the last pack meeting with Sin. I don't know him well enough to make an opinion of him but calling a pack meeting is never a bad thing, especially when the lands are quiet and lifeless. My body shudders, wanting to run, fight, kill, but I fight off the urges, my stride stiff. I look like a caged prisoner, trying to keep the reins on the inner beast. I don't know how much longer I can fight until I break.

Finally figures of wolves dance across my vision and I have to stop and blink a few times, trying to see past the red. I can make out the porcelain form of Cody as another figure, lean and feminine leaps at him. My hackles rise, my body stiff as my lips curl back, ready to dash at her, ready for the kill but just as I go to move toward her, her scent hits my nostrils and it takes everything I've got to hold myself still, make myself recognize the scent as Zig, a fellow pack member and a friend of Cody's if I remember right. I look away so they won't see the raging look in my eyes, taking deep breaths until I feel a little bit calmer, my hackles smoothing as I stand my ground, not quite ready to move closer to the gathering.

When the domineering perfume of Sin fills the air, I lower my head with a great effort, tail lowering behind me as I force my gaze away from her own, not wanting her to see me like this. Shame burrows in my chest even as the growing lust for bloodshed fights for control. I hear her greet Cody and Zig fondly though I note from her slightly slouched frame that she has heavy news for the pack. Perhaps word of her stolen children? I feel bad for not having done more and I feel worse for seeing their slaughtered figures spread out before me as red covers my vision once more.

Shaking my head, my lips tighten as I blink away the images and look at the ground. The familiar scent of Rushing Water hits me and still I look away, knowing that her children will be right on her heels and I don't trust myself to see them right now. I sit down right where I am, away from the others and yet still in eye sight. I can only hope that Sin won't think it disrespectful for me to keep my distance. Perhaps I can get a moment alone with her later to explain...if she'll believe a word I say.

The scent of Vela greets my nostrils next and I listen with a lone ear as she greets Sin and then Zig and Cody before finally turning her attention to the children and Rush, or at least that's what I suspect from the soothing tone of her voice.

When the lone scent of a strange female graces my nostrils, I stiffen once more, alert for her presence as she wanders over to Cody. I hear her greet him respectfully and my ears flicker. It looks like she's mistaking Cody for the alpha. My hackles rise once more, my mind instantly jumping to tearing and ripping of tendons and muscle, hacking the girl to pieces for her blatant disregard of Sin's presence, the true alpha of Aurora Borealis. I glance up just long enough to catch the puzzlement and then slight amusement in her posture as she turns her blind eyes to Cody, trying to gauge his reaction. Once more I stare at the ground, my whole body on wait mode as if just the flick of an ear and Sin will have this girl in pieces at her paws, whether she wants it or not. Just call me the psychotic killer of Aurora Borealis.
