His casual leap onto the stone was met with a minuscule duck by Cade. For a moment, Quirino relished the shoulder to shoulder contact with his sibling, feeling a warm balloon of pride swirl within him, but that happy bubble was ruthlessly punctured by the barbs of truth. In an almost disdainful matter, once-petty Cade gave up on the fight and leapt off the rock as if she had no time for him. She glanced deep into his black eyes for only a moment before turning away, ready to seamlessly deal with her kingdom. She had matured beyond him somehow. The thought struck Qui like a blow, stinging more than any would landed on him by BassHunter ever had. Foolishly, the little lordling had assumed that while he had been in limbo, fighting when battle was needed and otherwise remaining solitary, she had also been dormant, but that was incorrect. The very fact that she had experienced the world, and he had not had aged her, changed her, while he had remained the same. There had been no room for social development in Andere after his family had left, and now the crimson canine was left with the understanding that he was the only wolf that was still static. Hurt and indignation roared within him for a moment, but he somehow kept it off his face and gathered the remains of his shattered pride. He stepped forward, kissers brushing her ivory auditve as he shared words with her. I'll go along with you for now, but later, sister, you will meet with me and we will talk about just where you've been this past year.
He moved back without giving her time to respond, seating himself and preparing to watch the rest of the show. He didn't want the crown, but the wolves in the pack sure as hell had to respect him as much as Cade. Besides, if any wolf of a less superior bloodline was going to attack his sister, he had enough brotherly loyalty to protect her back while she slit their throat, no?
His uncle arrived soon after Qui had made his speech, softly sliding into the place. The older male spent a few seconds too long looking at Russia, causing yours truly to cock his head curiously, dark eyes wondering. The wolfess in question had been the last among the family to leave Qui, and he was very attached to her. If his creepy pedophile uncle wanted to have scary sex with her, he'd have to go through Qui first. But for now, the red prince saw no reason to worry he interperted the soulless gaze as simple friendship, and decided that Liquid had merely formed a bengin attachment to the female he had stolen and trained. He nodded back to the large bone and blood wolf, not letting the festering resentment within his soul become too evident.
Another scent, this one not one belonging to his family, caused Quirino's glance to travel to the outskirts of the clearing. Within a few minutes, an ebony wolf emerging from the foliage, his colors blending well with the charcoals that would rule the soon-to-come night. He was polite, dipping his head to Cade and introducing himself as Damon. Cade spoke to him, spewing out some fancy drabble. She sounded like their mother somehow Qui found it within himself to resent that as well, but again, he held it back. Another wolf that hadn't been of any use to him in his loneliness, Rai, crept into the meeting soon after, playfully assaulting Russia and ignoring the rest of the group. The crimson stag turned a slight smirk in their direction, his eyes seeking out Silent Russia's for a second before his attention flitted once more to the outskirts, from whence a trio of new canines had appeared.
They smelled of Damon and moved themselves like they meant trouble. Qui shifted slightly, taking up a 'guard your buddy's back' position that he and Cade had been taught as pups in an almost unconscious manner as the three newcomers strode forward. One was obedient, only standing, but two out stepped their boundaries. Qui once more cocked his head to the side, this time in a cruel, calculating manner, his muscles tightening as he calculated how much time it would take him to kill the male if his sister went for the closest wolf. As Onyx's hackles rose, Qui let a small growl rumble forth from his throat, eyes boring into the duo-toned orbs of the offending piece of meat. If had taken one more step, he could have quite possibly found himself down one windpipe, but fate obviously had other plans for the male, as he ceased his offensive. Too bad Qui was tired, but still had one good fight left in him today.
Within mintues, more of the strange wolves had arrived. They smelled of a family, and since Qui had never met a vampire, he made no other assumptions about the strange lot. He was wary, but not nervous, watching the group with a slight tinge of amusement in his blackened eyes. Just when Qui thought the meeting could not get any weirder, Winterleaf slunk forward, confusion evident in his motions. His muddy opticals sought out Qui immediately and he headed forward, bowing as he did so. The red hessian glanced at the lackey, indicating he take a seat and enjoy the show with an easy shrug.
A few other things occured, and the prince watched the action, keeping his ears perked. Another dangerous wolf enters the scene. He scanned the crowd, speaking to his brethren and passing the same lustful look that all of the new clan had given before his eyes travelled to Qui's figure. Qui glanced back at him, again calculating, and let a small, ghost of a smirk trace his face in acknowledgement before his attention was momentarily drawn to the shade of a female that had appeared on the fringes of the clearing. She was familiar, but not enough for the boy to forsake his defensive position and talk to. Rather, he refocused his attention, choosing to keep a careful watch on his surroundings instead of watching a particular wolf.
