Magic could barely even see herself walking back to Romance River; she had tried here only one to find love. She was worn with exaustion from her enterance here to Blossom, the snow dotting her pelt. It had been a very cold winter that season, nearly six months ago. She had found her way here to this river that ran over the rocks, giving off a wonderful melody wolves only trying to listen to this sound could hear. Those had been the days, when she thought the first would be the only.

Sadly, that was not the case. She had found a lover to wrap herself around; he had three legs, two paws, a slit for an ear, but a heart of an oak. He was strong and persistant, and saw the beauty of the forest through the eye that still worked, the other strained and then
quickly failed. That night was almost as dark as the one she stood in at that moment, looking up at the stars through the trees. Magic lived in the night; she dwelled in the stars' light that seemed to be drawn towards her anyway. Not many wolves saw the magic she lived every night when the moon woke from its bright bed, except the wolf she thought was her lover.

Magic broke the tree line, a gravel path leading up to the river. It was silent. The stars shared their silent words amoung each other, while she pressed herself to the ground, lapping up water as it jumped passed out of her maw, where it would be swallowed to do her body's bidding. She was a shadow; her black pelt was especialy sleek this evening, keeping very tightly to her body as if it shared her feelings of worry. She had not been here since she killed a doe with the wolf she hoped had dwelled in her love. She raised her head up while she lay by the river, enjoying the sounds of the crickets chirping. Somewhere deep inside her mind, she hoped a brute would come and fill the empty space in her heart, which she knew would never be sealed completly. Ears flickering within the night, she kept her eyes open, a sliver of moonlight spilling onto the gravel behind her, where anyone could see the outline of her body.
