aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Do not follow me into hell. That is not a fate I wish upon anyone.

Soon the leaning turns into laying. I am aware of my black bodice slipping down the rough trunk of the tree. the sap pulling at my coat. The rough ground rushes up to meet me but the tree slows the fall. My limbs tremble as the fever rages through my bodice. A brief rest. Just a moment to catch my bearings. I would rise soon enough and continue my journey. For now though I rest in the embrace of my icey forest. In the dark with not even the moon to guide my sightless steps. I fight the memories back refusing to feel sorry for myself. I came into this world as a warrior I would leave as nothing less.
Seconds pass and then minutes pass. My mind continues to play tricks on me reminding me of the past. I am back in time to when Akina and I lay in the forest. The sunlight warm upon my back. The passion we shared in that moment. Then the hurt from when her mate had returned. I had felt betrayed yet knew in my heart she was not mine to keep as much as I may have wanted to. I then remember the firm resolve of my heart to be anything she needed me to be. It is almost as if her scent never leaves me. Even now drawing the air into my lungs I swear she is coming for me. My brave lady and my dear friend.

It seems this is not a trick. The night carries the sounds of footfalls, I want to rise and move. Hide the others from finding me. None needed to see their broken queen. yet even now my strength does not come to my beck. Soon her scent burst into the clearing wrapping around my bodice. I close my bloody white orbs praying this is another trick while fearing it is not. My fear comes true as her heat is added to the fire of my bodice. Her voice trickles into the clearing. Her words filled with fear. I find myself hating this situation. This is all my fault I put that fear there. I let her warm me in way few other wolves had ever been able to do. Had I kept the walls and distance my China Wolf would not sound so broken. I try to put on a brave face and force my own fear of the unknown down.
I turn my dial despite the heaviness of the movement. My muzzle buries into her soft fur as I draw her scent into me. It is said none can take anything with them but by Odin I would do my best to take her scent. I do not speak for moments on end. Instead lay in silence with my friend. When I do speak I choose to be casual trying to avoid brining more pain to my dear friend.

" Akina, I am so glad to see you. I have missed you my friend."

Though the words are light so much meaning passes behind them. I remember helping her birth her latest litter. The grieving over the lost pups. The journey through snow to find her other missing pup Red China. I remember the first conversation. Her silent vow to never leave me alone to not let me be the shadow warrior aloof from the pack. I have so much I am grateful for. So many things these goddess of light has given me that I can never repay.
