Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

Hmm… Ruvindra made a pack with the wolf-meat lovers. She seemed to have forgotten that I have been nearly killed by one of them. But I would remind her, just to see her reaction. She did more than bring those creatures with her, she recruited the true threat to be our allies. That will make us strong. She is smart and I trust her decision without a doubt. And… We have Amir’s adoptive mother. A chuckle escaped my muzzle as I walked within the forest soundlessly. That little bastard still thinks that his adoptive mother loves him when in fact she is beside me and under my control by her own choice! And Ruvindra’s. That’s one step to take that bastard down. Cut his supplies of relieve and make him feel pain, take his friends and make him weaker.

As my paws step lightly on the ground, my nose works for it’s target. Devil. The dark unbeatable tank. It’s for him who I am looking for. Yes... Amir found shelter in his pack and stayed there for a long time. I wonder what he used to do there. And I suspect Amir must have grown quite fond of this wolf. For how he refused to come out of the den in that night, the night when Amir betrayed Devil. It was not fear. He didn’t smell like fear. Amir refused to leave, for sadness, for shame… But before that wolf came, his hopes were high, he trusted Devil to judge him. And when Devil called for Amir, he didn’t call by his name, he called him traitor, and that was his judgment. That was when Amir felt shame, sadness.

I tried to kill him and I would have succeeded if it wasn’t for Dusk. A healer saved his life when he was nearly dying. I had been banished from my pack, but accepted back in when I protected my mate from his attack. He didn’t even touch Ruvindra in that night. He just told the truth to her and that was enough to seal his fate. I really doubt he would have enough strength to even grab Ruvindra’s neck. His heart is too soft to kill an innocent. He would probably run after pushing my mate with his jaws instead of tearing her throat. But I wouldn’t risk being wrong and losing my mate. Besides, it might have been good to stop him right there, for it made me look good. Ha! They have no idea.

I am a perfect tracker. Nothing can hide from me. His scent disappeared some time ago, but there is always the nature to tell me where he went. Broken leaves, twisted twigs, small patches of dust… These clues lead me to a river in the eastern crater. My paws carried my dark body through the shadows slowly, until I finally reached him. Devil’s dark form was sitting on the edge of the river. I circled him, through the tree shadows and allowing my body to gently fade from the darkness. My lips pulled into a grin.

- Hello there!

I kept safe distance, not invading his space. My voice was smooth and not disrespectful. I just want to see how he would react. Was he still angry at me? I think so… Ha!
